About Diwali

                            Diwali also called Deepawali or the "Festival of Lights", is a five-day Hindu festival which starts on Dhanteras, celebrated on the thirteenth lunar day of Krishna paksha (dark fortnight) of the Hindu calender month Ashwin and ends on Bhaiduj. Diwali falls between mid-October and mid-November.For Indian, Diwali is one of the most important festivals of the year and is celebrated in families by performing traditional activities together in their homes. 

The name "Diwali" is a contraction of Deepawali which translates into "row of lamps".  Diwali involves the lighting of small clay lamps filled with oil to signify the triumph of good over evil. These lamps are kept on during the night and one's house is cleaned, both done in order to make the goddess Lakshmi feel welcome. Firecrackers are burst because it is believed that it drives away evil spirits.  During Diwali, all the celebrants wear new clothes and share sweets and snacks with family members and friends.
The festival starts with Dhanteras on which on which most Indian business communities begin their financial year. The second day of the festival is called the Naraka Chaturdasi. Amavasya, the third day of Diwali, marks the worship of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth. The fourth day of Diwali is known as Kartika Shudda Padyami. The fifth day is referred to as Yama Dvitiya or Bhaiduj, and on this day sisters invite their brothers to their homes.

                          Hummingbird Algorithm is the new Google Algorithm by Google. September 27 is Google's official birthday, making Google 15 years old. To celebrate their 15th birthday, Google launched a new "Hummingbird" Algorithm, claiming that google search can be a more human way to interact with users and provide a more direct answer.

                          Google Inc has overhauled its search algorithm, the foundation of the internet's dominant search engine, to better cope with the longer, more complex queries it has been getting from web users. Amit Singhal , Senior vice president of search, told reporters on Thursday that the company launched its latest "Hummingbird" algorithm about a month ago and that it currently affects 90 percent of worldwide searchers via Google. Google is trying to keep pace with the evaluation of internet usage. As search queries get more complicated, traditional "Boolean" or keyword-based systems begin deteriorating because of the need to match concepts and meaning in addition to words.  "Hummingbird" is the company's effort to match the meaning of queries with that of documents on the Internet, said Singhal from the Menlo Park garage where Google founders Larry page and Sergey Brin conceived their now-ubiquitous search engine. "Remember what is was like to search in 1998? you'd sit down and boot up your bulky computer, dial up on your squawky modem, type in some keywords, and get 10 blue links to websites that had those words," Singhal wrote in a separate blogspot.
